WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-25) issued the following statement after Secretary Ben Carson announced nearly $2.2 billion in grants to support local homeless assistance programs across the nation, including nearly $90 million for Florida.
“As former Chairman, and now Ranking Member, of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, reducing, and ultimately ending homelessness in our communities is a top priority. I am particularly proud of the progress we’ve made in Southern Florida toward this goal. These grants will help our communities advance further as we continue to work to eliminate homelessness, particularly for the most vulnerable among us, including veterans, the elderly, families with children, and the disabled. I thank Secretary Carson for his longstanding commitment to bettering our communities, and I look forward to our continued work as we improve the quality and efficiency of our housing programs.”
